8:40 a.m. “Real Estate Roller Coaster: Lessons from China”
In China, as in many markets, real estate is the key lead indicator of the economic cycle. The credit driven short cycle roller coaster rise for apartment appreciation in China’s major cities clearly appears to be on a downswing in 2018. What implications does this hold for the newly appointed leadership as Xi Jinping enters his second (and final?) five years in office? How will it affect financial market reforms in China, especially with the creation of a super regulator? Is this a domestic issue, or will trouble in the Middle Kingdom affect their neighbors and the rest of the world?
Michael Drury

9:05 a.m “Georgia Housing Math”
With construction costs, added government regulations and labor issues on a steep rise, affordable housing it out of whack and housing fundamentals forward are unlikely to show improvement.
