Michael Drury joined McVean Trading & Investments, LLC as Chief Economist in 1992, after serving for five years as Senior Economist with Allen Sinai at Shearson Lehman Brothers. He began his career at A. Gary Shilling and Company in 1982. He received his BS in Economics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and did his graduate work (MS and ABD) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Michael is the author of McVean Trading’s “Weekly Economic Update”. He addresses global macroeconomic issues and is considered a leading expert on China. He is Chairman Emeritus of the Global Interdependence Center, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that brings together the foremost academics, business leaders, central bankers and government officials in discussions vital to promoting a more integrated global community. In these roles, he travels extensively around the world and within the United States. Michael also served on the Executive Board of the National Association for Business Economics and was recognized in the initial class of Certified Business Economists. He is a past President of the Economic Club of Memphis, the founder and first President of the Mid-South Association for Business Economics (a chapter of NABE), a member of the National Business Economic Issues Council (NBEIC) and a non-resident member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Beijing. Michael lives in Germantown, TN with his wife, Mahrou, and has three children. |

Juliette Tennert is a senior advisor at the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, specializing in Utah’s economy, economic forecasting and modeling, fiscal policy analysis and economic impact studies. Her most recent work includes state revenue forecasting, labor force analysis, housing and construction research and international trade data analysis. Before joining the Eccles School, Tennert served as the state budget director and chief economist for Governor Gary Herbert, chief economist for Governor Jon Huntsman and as a fiscal analyst for the Utah State Legislature. Prior to her state service, Tennert was a research analyst for the Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Tennert holds a master’s degree in economics from UNLV and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Chicago. She is also an adjunct instructor of public budgeting and finance in the University of Utah’s Master of Public Administration program and has been honored as one of Utah Business Magazine’s annual “30 Women to Watch.” |
