Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco
|Kevin joined the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in 1998, after spending two years at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University as a National Fellow and a Visiting Scholar. Prior to that, he served as an Economist in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. From 2011 to 2013, he served as a visiting economist in the Monetary Policy Research Department of the Central Bank of Norway (Norges Bank).
He has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, an M.B.A. in Finance from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Kevin’s recent research focuses on models of investor expectations and bounded rationality as applied to house prices, stock markets, and exchange rates. He has published articles in leading academic journals including American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, Journal of Economic Theory, Economic Journal, and Journal of Public Economics. He is currently serving as a member of the Executive Committee of the Society for Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics.
Fixed Income Trader
Ryan Childs has been with Raymond James since 2014 as a member of the Loan Trading Desk. His primary responsibilities include the analysis of residential mortgages, commercial mortgages, and consumer loan portfolios providing pricing and market color to customers looking to manage their loan portfolio balance sheet exposure. He has worked on billions of loan sales in the Non-QM and scratch and dent markets, including working on several of the Non-QM securitizations. He is also responsible for managing transactions including legal documents, due diligence, and funding. Prior to Raymond James, Mr. Childs worked for Public Financial Management, Inc. in the municipal bond sector and was responsible for providing advice, analysis and negotiating pricing on municipal securities including interest rate pricing, call and put options, and debt structuring for sell side clients. Mr. Childs received his BA in international business from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. Mr. Childs is a CFA charterholder.

Ethan Tussey (Ph.D. University of California – Santa Barbara, 2012) is an Associate Professor of Film and Media at Georgia State University. His work explores the relationship between the entertainment industry and the digitally empowered public. His book, The Procrastination Economy: The Big Business of Downtime (NYU Press, 2018) details the economic and social value of mobile device use in the context of the workplace, the commute, the waiting room, and the living room. He has contributed book chapters on ESPN’s Pardon the Interruption, DC’s SuperHero Girls action-dolls, creative labor, online sports viewing, connected viewing, sports and social media and crowdfunding to various anthologies. He is also the Graduate Director of the School of Film, Media & Theatre as well as the Coordinating Editor of In Media Res and the co-founder of the Atlanta Media Project. He teaches classes on media industries, media theory and history and digital media.
